A French court on Thursday ordered a Romanian truck driver who paid a fine of € 28.8 million and sent it to jail for 10 years after finding 438 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle, prosecutors said.
The case is the last with the deal in France, where the record amounts of cocaine have flooded the country, and internal minister Bruno Retilleau said that France faces a “white tsunami.”
In 2024, the application of French law seized 53.5 tons of cocaine, 130 percent more compared to 2023 (23 tons), as shown in the data of the Ministry of Interior.
Personalized officers had to use an industrial grinder to cut the rear wall of the truck in February to find hidden cocaine bricks, prosecutors said.
