The Trump administration has exempted smartphones, computers and other electronics of their punishment “reciprocal” rates, which lowers the cost of a series of high -tech popular products and their impact on US consumers. The exemptions, published on Friday, April 11, in a notice of the US Customs and Border Protection Office, cover several electronic products, including smartphones, and the components that enter the United States from China, which are currently. Tariff The semiconductors were also excluded from the “baseline” rate of 10% for most US commercial partners and the 125% added tax in China.

The exclusions reduce the range of tariffs of 10% broad announced by President Donald Trump earlier this month, and the additional rate of punishment to the assets of China. Trump has attacked China as a special with its “reciprocal tariffs” to Meean to go to Washington considered unfair, recently introducing a new 125% rate on the goods of the second largest economy in the world, which had an effect this week. The rate stacked on a 20% previous rate that Trump imposed in the alleged role of China in the fentanyl supply chains and other existing tariffs of previous administrations, carrying the complete figure at least 145% for many products.

Many of the exempt products, including hard drives and computer processors, are generally not manufactured in the United States. While Trump has referred to tariffs as a way to return manufacturing to the United States, it will probably have to increase national manufacturing years.
