Qatar flexes its diplomatic muscles in Africa, with mixed results

While Qatar fights daily with the challenge of mediating between Israel and Hamas, the Emirate is now also addressing an equally complicated conflict that has been happening for 30 years in the Democratic Republic of the East of the Congo (RDC). On March 18, to everyone’s surprise, Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani organized a meeting in Doha between two key figures in the crisis: Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi and his counterpart from Ruanda Paul Kagame, who is.
