Oscar Piasstri was the top of the Formula 1 classification with the victory at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Sunday, April 20. Piastri began second with Max Verstappen and tok leadership after Verstappen had to fulfill a penalty of FIVECOND.
Verstappen was penalized for leaving the track when he fought for leadership with Piastri in the first corner. Piastri argued that he had in front of Verstappen inside the corner. “Once I went up inside, I left the curve one in second,” Piaastri said. “I did my best. Obviously, the butlers had to get involved. I thought it was far enough and that is what the races has won.”
Charles Leclerc was third for Ferrari and McLaren teammate from Piastri, Lando Norris, finished fourth thanks to an intelligent strategy and overtaking. Norris had started 10Th After an accident in the qualification.
It was the second consecutive victory for Piastri, who touched the victory in Bahrein last week and has three five -run victories this year. I had only won two before this season. Piastri leads the classification by 10 points of Norris, with Verstappen two points further back in third. Piastri was three points from Norris in Sunday’s race, partly because an expensive turn in his local career in Australia, the first header of the season.
It becomes the first Australian in leading the F1 classification from Mark Webber, who is now the Piastri manager, in 2010 as a Red Bull driver. No Australian has won the title from Alan Jones in 1980.
Piastri said the penalty was what gave him the victory. He had trouble staying up to date with Verstappen’s car before the well stops without damaging his tires. Piastri beat Verstappen out of the line and was slightly ahead in the first corner, just for Verstappen to run alongside the Chicana.
Five -second penalty
Verstappen accused Piastri of forcing him to be but the butlers dissentatively and gave the Dutch driver a five -second penalty for driving outside the track and obtaining an advantage. That was “lovely,” Verstappen reacted sarcastically. He had to fulfill the penalty staked in his stop in boxes before the crew could touch the car to change the tires. When asked about the incident after the race, Verstappen praised fans and track and said “the rest is what it is.”
Norris recovered to the room after starting 10Th. Norris’s strategy was the opposite of most of the field, starting in the slower and more durable hard tires. Meean led the races after most of the other pilots had faced before and could have put it in a position to win if there was an incident that required the security car or the red flag while he led.
There was almost a great accident when Fernando Alonso and Gabriel Bortoleto hit the wheels while fighting for the position near the back of the field. The two -time Alonso champion ran into a second round area, but kept his car under control.
