A group of suspects nicknamed the “grandparents’ thieves” are put in trial at the end of April, accused of stealing jewels worth millions of the American reality television star Kim Kardashian in Paris in 2016.
In what the French press has called “The Heist of the Century”, the masked men moved away from the luxurious Parisian hotel where Kardashian stayed in October 2016 with millions of jewels, including a diamond ring given away by their THENHUSBAND.
Kardashian will testify in person at the trial, which will open on April 28, said American lawyer Michael Rhodes last week.
Ten people will be on the dock and the verdict is expected on May 23, Kardashian, to appear on May 13, according to a provisional schedule.
In what has been calling the greatest French attraction aimed at an individual in 20 years, Kardashian was stolen or estimated at 10 million euros ($ 11.4 million at the current rates) while staying in a week of the fashion of the luxury residence.
Among the suspicious arrested four months later in Paris and in southern France is Aomar Ait Khedache, known as “Old Omar”, who admitted his participation in the robbery, but denies the prosecution’s accusation that he was also the leader of the ring.
Two investigating magistrates ordered the suspects to be tried by jury, who in France is reserved for the most serious crimes, for charges that include armed hand robbery, kidnapping and membership or a criminal gang.

One of the alleged thieves, Yunice Abbas, who is now 71 years old, who fled the scene on a bicycle, dropped a cross embedded by diamonds worth 30,000 euros, which was found by a passer -by a few hours later.
