Vigicrues said that “flood peaks have been reached in all ‘upstream’ rivers below the orange alert, with the water levels that begin to go back.
“However, the flood is extending to the lower island, where water levels are increasing. In the lower dronne, the levels will continue to increase today in the co -house area (in the department of Gironde).” As such, it is possible that more floods continue on Tuesday.
The flood was during the weekend, after the region experienced rain and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, which led to floods along the rivers, Vézère, Dronne, isle and Auvázer.
Bordeaux saw record rain on Saturday, with 42.7 mm or rain thrown into the city in just 24 hours on Saturday, the regional newspaper Sudueest reported.
Meanwhile, eight campsites in the department of Dordoña had to be evacuated, according to Franceinfo.
