I returned with another review of skin care, and this time I have the medik8 leg test. Originally they introduced me to the brand through the conscious range of cult of Cult Beauty, where I fell in love with their daily moisturizer of Radiance. Since then, I have kept mediak8 on my radar, especially as they intend to be ‘The skin care brand directed by the most sustainable professional in the world’. As a sustainable beauty writer and skin care lover, I had to try more than the range!
Around the last three months, I have been following a skin care routine composed of almost all medium8 products to see how they stay. Finally, it is time to share with you my thoughts about the range and the brand as a whole …
Who is Medik8?
Medik8 is a British skin care brand founded in 2009 by Elliot Isaacs. Isaacs is a scientist with a title in Physiology and Pharmacology, and was inspired by beauty brands with a strong ethics like the body shop. He is cited by saying: “I saw the gap for a brand that had the attractiveness of the consumer of existing luxury products, but that prioritized ethics and sustainability without sacrification.”
Medik8 began by launching a retinoid with a formula without unique water, then a vitamin C serum and finally a SPF 30 sun protector. To this day, Mediak8 prescribes this same skin care regime, which they call its ‘csa philosophy’, which combines vitamin C, sunscreen and vitamin A.
Similar to Facetheory, Medik8 formulates and manufactures almost all its cosmetics in the United Kingdom. They do it in their own facilities (instead of working with third -party factories). This means that they have greater control over formal and sustainability. However, unlike Facetheory, which uses its scarce chain to transmit savings to its consumers-medik8 it has a price similar to the care marks of the middle range skin such as Susanne Kaufmann and Sunday Riley.
Is the care of mediak8 skin sustainable?

Medk8 has Hero a series of basic principles of sustainability since its inception, including the use of sustainable, traceable and effective ingredients, and manufacturing in the United Kingdom. 16 years later, it seems that Medik8 has continued its mission of being the most sustainable skin care brand in the world. Recent steps include achieving B-Corp certification in 2023 and eliminating all fossil fuels of its operations.
When investigating this publication, I loved finding the impact reports of Medk8, past and present, that support their sustainability statements. It seems that, although Medik8 is marketed in the effectiveness of their products, they also have an incredible approach to sustainability. I would love to see this communicated more boldly, it is definitely a unique point of sale that reassures beauty consumers like me!
My skin care regime my spoke media, reviewed
Last year I consulted for a sustainable skin care brand. Around the table, a fellow consultant highlighted how important it is a ‘skin care questionnaire’, and could not agree more. I really appreciate being able to match my skin type and my skin concerns when discovering a new skin care brand, and that is exactly what I did with Medk8. They sacrifice a regime builder, which covers:
- Skin type
- Skin sensitivity
- Skin care objectives
When my data entered: dry, sensitive skin and a desire to have hydrated and smooth skin, the following skin care products prescribed me for diurnal and nocturnal use. This is how I continued with this selection of products (endowed for this review).
MEDIK8 Diurna Care Regime

1. calm calming cleaner. To start my new regime, I was recommended by the Calmwise cleaner. This is a sparkling cleaner with a soft aroma and a light green dye, which I found that it was effective to gently clean my skin without causing any sensitivity. I was surprised by the foam pump a little, since it requires a lot of plastic, it must or cannot be recycled. I wonder if the cleaner can be dispensed in a different way.
2. R-Retinoate Day & Night Cream. The next step in my regime came in the form of ‘A’ part of ‘CSA’: vitamin A to this point, I had only used retinoids in my night skin care routine. I was pleasantly surprised how well the R-Retinoate cream helped continue my efforts to resurface my skin without being too hard for daytime use. This product quickly became an outstanding part of my Medki8 skin care routine. If you use retinoids, this is good to worship in your morning routine as a recharge!
3. Advanced day Ultimate Protect SPF 50+. Finally, the ‘S’ or ‘CSA’: sunscreen. I have been using retinoids for just under four years, and the sunscreen is a natural extension of that. I have a sunscreen daily. And it has to be SPF 30 or more! The advanced Day Ultimate Protect is a great SPF: it is light, it extends on my face easily and absorbs rapidly. Nor do I realize any white cast when I apply it, however, I am aware that I have clear skin. I particularly like that the pump provides a small amount of product, so I can use two or three pumps as necessary.
MEDIK8 Night Skin Care Regime

1. calm calming cleaner. Like my morning routine for skin care, my night begins with the calm cleaner. At night, the cleaner has a harder job when removing my makeup, and I discovered that it fell here if I didn’t wear micellar water and a facial fabric. That said, the product description does not promise that it will eliminate makeup. This is where a cream cleaner would border this foam, so I would like to try the Cleanese cream below.
2. Crystal Retinal 6. Now in one of the Heroes products of Medik8, the Crystal Retina. This is its main retinoid product, and it comes in a range of strengths, numbered from 1 to 24. I went by ‘6-regular’, since this seemed to be on par with the retinol that I was previously using, however, I did it to be a bit that I, just, that. I am challenging this to my caution to try something stronger, and I will say that the benefits here were the skin without sensitivity or redness. I would like to try the strength ’10’ below.
3. Advanced night restoration. Finally, in the dream night cream that is the advanced night restoration of Medik8. Like the first medik8 day cream that I had tried, the advanced restoration of the night provides intense hydration thanks to its multiple ceramid formula that lets my skin feel wet and soft in the morning. Yo Reaxly Like this moisturizer. It’s light, moisturizing and my skin drinks it!
My general qualification or my mediak8 skin care: 8/10
In general, I have to say that I am a big fan or mediak8. Its products are effective and the regime builder coincided with my skin type and my conerns skin with products that really helped improve hydration and skin texture. I also really appreciate the holistic approach that Medik8 adopts towards sustainability.
There are two reasons why I raised two mediak8 points in this review. The first is the regime builder. While I think every product I checked works very well, I don’t think they gave me a skin care routine with full shed. My dry skin still yearned for hydration, so I added a whey of hyaluronic acid in the mixture, and later, a skin fog.
The second reason is the packaging of the product. For a brand with aspirations to become a world leader in sustainable beauty, there was too much plastic. Sustainable beauty marks such as Dr. Barbara Sturm and Susanne Kaufmann use much more glass, and even the budgetary brand facet do it well with glass and metal tubes. I would love to see a review of packaging in the near future.
Medk8 is available to buy in Cult Beauty, Mediak8.com and Space NK.
