Antwerp (Brussels morning newspaper) – The new ‘HandyPark’ application received its presentation in Antwerp. The application works to prevent people with disabilities from obtaining unjustified parking tickets. The creation of HandyPark occurred through an association between Antwerp Plus organizations such as VVSG.

Antwerp, together with other Belgian cities, now confronts a number or increasing complaints of members of the disabled community about inappropriate parking tickets.

Traditional parking permit cards for disabled placed on the board surfaces were frequently felt by automated scanning vehicles that perform parking compliance tasks, as reported by VRT.

Automatic enrollment recognition systems that detect permits have demonstrated frequent failures to read permits, resulting in unfair sanctions. Many disability rights organizations reported that people suffered prolonged administrative procedures when they challenge unfair parking fines that gave them unnecessary stress.

That sometimes leads to frustration.

“You can always play those fines, but that often implies an administrative discomfort. This application solves that easily “,

Minister Rob Beenders (Vooruit) says.

The application is very easy to use.

“The application was developed in consultation with people with disabilities. It is very easy to use, and also avoids unjustified fines ”,

Says of Gils.

“The application also controls the person with disabilities,”

Hey says.

“I can put with which car trip and how long a correct parking has. In the past, I had to register each car separate with the municipality, but if you always have to travel with people, that is a lot of administration.”

The application also guarantees that people with disabilities do not have to justify missoles.

“In the past, sometimes I had to convince the officers of my disability, which is always painful,”

Says of Gils.

The application also helps prevent abuse.

“The application works with their me that everyone is entitled to it. A old parking card is sometimes transmitted or copy.”

Guido says, who helped develop the application.

What is the background behind the ‘HandyPark’ application of Antwerp?

The “HandyPark” application is a mobile parking solution developed by A1 Telekom Austria AG, designed to simplify parking management for users by allowing them to reserve parking tickets, receive reminders before maturity and track the parking history.

The application allows users to see updates of the parking system in advance and allows them to store multiple plates and use carfinder capabilities to track parked cars. Through its commercial solutions, the application presents capacities that allow organizations to manage their collective parking costs.

The digital parking solution began in Austria, especially Vienna, and demonstrates the modernization of parking services management through digital platforms, which improve the user experience. There is no specific information indication that Handypark was specifically developed for Antwerp or Belgium, a suggestion that the “HandyPark” application of Antwerp could be a local adaptation or a different service inspired by a similar digital parking solution.
