SAWE offers a victory statement
I heard the TCS London Marathon Winner, a Scottish coach and a Borred kit from a club in Glasgow?
It is a real story, as is the case, with Sabastian SaweLast Sunday’s success moving memories for Colin Thomas and a meeting in London.
Sawe surprised the countryside to win in London in 2: 02.27 to spectacularly follow the victory in Valencia in 2024 in its marathon debut.
A few years ago, coach Colin was helping a group in Kenya and supplying a kit that had gathered the legs generously West End Road Runners.
“I have a regular visitor from the city of ITEN (Home of Champions) in Kenya since 2015 and on those trips I have worked with numerous athletes and coaches,” Colin explained.
‘In 2018 we made a’Kit for Kenya‘Weby campaign we gather unwanted career clothes from the good people of Glasgow and many of them come from the West End road runners.
‘We sent it and distributed the kit when I was there to the next athletes who were in need. Sabastian Sawe was one of the runners who benefited.

‘We also took a group of eight young athletes who were promising and created a kind of mini training W and Weby training, we gave them a house to live, food and training.
‘I trained a series of sessions while I was there and left them in the hands capable of Kenya’s coach John EwoiWhile I provided the training plan from afar. Some of these athletes were making great progress and SAE in particular.
‘Covid restrictions prevented this from going beyond 2020, but I heard that Sabastian was signed by an important management company and was on the way to being an consummated athlete.
‘He made his debut winning Valencia in 2024 when he showed that his talent and promise was real. He has supported him with the success of London.
“I managed to reach it in London after winning the marathon and that was a great moment.”
