The controversial penalty of Ronan Hale’s stop time kept alive the hopes of Ross County to avoid the descent play-offs while drawing 1-1 to the companions Dundee.
The Dark Blues took the front in the second half through Scott Tiffoney and seemed to be ongoing to ensure his premiere status from William Hill.
But deep down from an additional time he saved a point for the Staggies from the place after Ryan Astley directed the ball to Antonio Portales’ arm.
With only two points separating the sides, it will go to the cable this Sunday to determine who will be in the descent play-offs.
The hosts made two changes in the team lost to Kilmarnock on the weekend with Oluwaseun Adewumi arriving at Scott Tiffoney, while Clark Robertson replaced Aaron Donnelly in defense.
The visitors made three alterations to the side that was defeated by ST Johnstone on Saturday with Eli Campbell, Michee Efete and Noah Kenneth being recruited for Kieran Philips, George Harmon and Zac Ashworth, who was Saint Card in Saint’s game.
Dundee had a great opportunity in the 22nd minute when Simon Murray clung to a step back from Akil Wright and tried a high shot from a tight angle that Kacper Lopata cleared of his line.
The Staggies produced an instant response and were close to taking the lead when Hale embarked on a great race before hitting a shot from the edge of the Dundee box that deviated in the crossbar and over.
The Highland team tails were up and had two other fast fire opportunities with Wright sending a free header before Alex Samuel’s goalkeeper was easily gathered by local goalkeeper Trevor Carson.
Adewumi then found Seb Palmer-Hourlden with an excellent crossfelt pass and the striker hit a 22-yard shot that goalkeeper Jordan Abeissah became acrobatically for a corner.
The tension continued to increase at the beginning of the second half, but the dead point finally broke in the 55th minute. Cameron played an excellent Tiffoney feet on the left and entered the county box and kept the calm to shoot calmly, fits Assassah.
The goalkeeper then came to the rescue of his team, making two impressive stops in rapid succession of a shot by Palmer-Houllden and a header Joe Shaughnessy.
The Staggies then wasted a great opportunity to match when Samuel extended to Hale but with the goal to his mercy, he exploded well.
However, the striker made the peace in the sixth minute of stop time.
Referee Nick Walsh controversial with the county granted a penalty when Astley went to the portal arm, with the decision stamped by VAR.
Hale took a step forward to take the shot and did not make any mistake, sending Carson the wrong way to put an end to any automatic descent frears and increase the hopes of his team to avoid the play-offs.
