Nature has always fascinated me, so I prefer to live in the countryside in a city or city. We live in a part of France that is relatively virgin and has beautiful and varied landscapes. This is special visible around Beaulieu’s abade, a gem or 13Th-Centurny Cistercian Abbey, who is less than 10 minutes by car from us.
The immediate surroundings of the abbey have recently become a sensitive sensitive (fragile or vulnerable natural area). These are areas that are notable for the richness of their flora and fauna, but that need to administer and protect.
As part of a national weekend to celebrate nature, our department Organized a nature walk in Beaulieu. This provided a perfect excuse to return to the abbey, which had only visited recent.
The monks knew where to locate their monasteries. L’Abbaye de Beaulieu occupies a protected place in the lush Valle Valley of Seye. Althegh’s isolation was one of the attractions, access to the river was crucial. The monks lived there until the eviction duration of the revolution.

It took us to a place where Seye is divided into two. A part is straight and the abbey passes to Behaind. The other walks through the fields and through the forest. The latter is the true course of Seye. The first is artificial.
Studies have shown that this modification dates from 19Th Century after the monks had already left. The objective was to use both river routes for crop irrigation, and there is evidence of old irrigation channels. However, the result is that much of the water flows along the artificial bed of the river, while the original course dries and is stagnating in the summer.
What is the problem? Certain indigenous species, such as trout, work much better in a river route than in a sincere than on a line and in which water flows faster. The comcom project is to revoke the river to its original course.
Stranger Fauna Return
