My Green Doctor Begins Pilot with Weill Cornell Medicine

We are pleased to share that Weill Cornell Medicine, one of the most respected academic medical institutions in nations, has started a small -scale pilot of the My Green Dr. Importatant Paso program to build a more sustainable future of health.

With a network or in more than 1,300 doctors and more than 40 places of patient care in New York City, Weill Cornell’s influence on medical care and education is of great reach. The pilot, currently focused on a selected practice within the system, reflects a growing interest in integrating intelligent climatic operations in daily clinical care.

While this is an early stage initiative for Weill Cornell, the My Green Doctor Itelf program is not new. Since its launch in 2010, MGD has been helping medical care clinics, offices and systems around the world to make practical and measurable progress towards environmental sustainability: the route of commitment of wood, or clinical, or clinical, or clinical, or clinical or clinical.

MGD for the numbers:

  • 30 Professional Health Societies offer MGD as a free membership benefit.
  • 8,500 new users joined in 2023.
  • 1.3 million doctors are represented through the World Medical Association, a participating organization.
  • 19 countries have national medical associations that provide MGD resources.

By joining this global community with a vision of the future, Weill Cornell is pointing out his awareness that climate change is no longer a distant group. It is already affecting public health systems, health equity and health provision. Hospitals and medical practices are vulnerable to climatic risks and uniquely positioned to lead solutions.

Why does it matter

The My Green Doctor program is based on a structured and step -by -step framework that helps the medical teams occupied to integrate sustainability in practice operations. The benefits are broad:

DIRECT BENEFITS:

  • Improvement of personnel and moral commitment around a shared purpose.
  • Cost savings through waste reduction, energy efficiency and greenest acquisition.
  • The confidence and education of the improved patient modeling environmental responsibility in care environments.

Indirect benefits:

  • Contributions to climate resilience in communities roughly affected by environmental health risks.
  • Support for broader institutional objectives in equity, population health and public health leadership.

A reflective beginning, with one eye in the future

This pilot is fashionable in scale, but it is significant. It establishes the basis for the possible future expansion within Weill Cornell and serves as a valuable case study for other large institutions that consider similar efforts.
In my green doctor, we are excited to support Weill Cornell’s trip and learn with his team. Our mission has always been to make the care of climate-intelligent health not only possible, but, for each child of medical practice, regardless of the size or starting point.

As this pilot develops, we will share learning and milestones. Together, we are generating impulse for a health sector that leads with science, compassion and climatic responsibility.
