What is hot yoga?
Hot yoga is a type of yoga practice that takes place in a room with heating. The original hot yoga type was founded by Bikram Choudhury, Althehegh, there are variations. In yoga in the lanes, my favorite yoga school, teach the traditional type of hot yoga, consisting of 26 poses and two navigation exercises (also known as ’26 +2 ‘). This series is practiced with a room heated at 41 ° C and 40%. Heat and humidity make you sweat within a few minutes of stepping on the mat, but quickly becomes comfortable and helps you stretch more easily.
How to prepare for hot yoga
I have practiced yoga from time to time for more than 10 years (you can read about how I got into yoga in 2015!) Only in the last six months I discovered hot yoga and fell in love with practice. If you are thinking of trying hot yoga for the first time, or want to return to it, I wanted to share some things that will make your practice more pleasant:
- Wear breathable clothes. I mean these two ways: Be sure to wear clothes where you can breathe comfortably, because you will be breathing a lot and make sure your clothes are comfortable while sweating. In my classes, students wear a mixture of yoga clothes, shorts and swimsuits.
- Bring a yoga and Tawel carpet. You will need a yoga carpet and a full size towel that covers the entire mat. Most yogis use microfiber towels, Althegh, I tend to bring a beach towel.
- Drink lots or water before class. I try to drink at least two liters of water during the day before a night of the night, and also stop eating about two hours before.
- Bring a reusable water bottle. This is ecological, and if you have an isolated water bottle, it will maintain its cold water class. Win the victory!
I have included a longer verification list below, but the theses are essential. The other essential is to bring a open mind. Hot yoga, or at least, the traditional sequence 26+2, is different from any other yoga you have practiced. It is rigorous and requires the approach to enter and sustain poses. It is not for everyone, but when it has been openly followed, I have found that it is really transformative for the mind and body. That said, Be a child for yourself. Follow your teacher’s instructions the best you can and make sure you breathe when you need it.
My essential hot yoga elements
Breathable yoga clothes
My favorite yoga clothes for hot yoga comes from welllicium. Made with natural fibers and the first non -toxic elastane in the world, it provides breathability while it is soft with my skin.
I have two Wellus yoga clothes games: this black game, and another blank set. I would love to wellicious yoga shorts below, since they would be excellent for hot yoga practice. Read my full review →
Isolated water bottle
My next essential is my isolated water bottle. I worked with the brand in 2020, and I used my Matterhorn water bottle hundreds of times since then. It is the perfect water bottle for hot yoga, since it is fantastic to keep cold water, and can place full -size ice cubes in the bottle removing the piece from the mouth. This removable part also helps with cleaning. Put short: If I lost this bottle, I would replace it immediately!
After class, I like to add lemon and electrolytes to my water. This helps with rehydration, and is more ecological than buying sports drinks.
Towels and other essential elements
Then let’s talk about towels. I really bring Three Towels to the practice of yoga, which may seem excessive, but they are all essential (at least for me!)
The first is a full -size tawel that covers most of my yoga carpet. I have a natural rubber yoga from Manduka, and I use a beach towel to practice on this. You can buy non -sliding towels made specifically for yoga, but for your first practice, a beach towel may be enough. You will need a tower to check all your carpet because you are going to sweat, a lot.
Next to the towel for my mat, I bring a small hand tower to clean my face practice. Traditional hot yoga asks you not to move or with the possess of itching, but sometimes I need to clarify my eyes or the class duration. This is the most educated way to do so.
Finally, I bring a third tower to dry after showing. It is almost impossible to leave a hot yoga class without showing, so be sure to take essential shower before class. I have included thesis in my verification list below.
