A Best of Beauty-winning mascara just got a très chic upgrade. We tapped the sweat-resistant Eyeko Sport Mascara as a fave in 2015, and today the Eyeko x Colette Bespoke Mascara was announced. The British-based company Eyeko collaborated with Colette, a cult-favorite boutique in Paris, to create a low-maintenance mascara worthy of even the most finicky French girl’s beauty bag, er, sac.
The collaboration isn’t as random as you might think. Sarah Andelman, the cofounder of Colette, isn’t big into makeup. That’s why when she went to start selling mascara at her boutique on Rue Saint-Honoré in the first arrondissement, she turned to Eyeko, which gives lashes just enough definition, shine, and length to make a difference without looking like you’re glopping anything on. (It goes without saying Colette does not sell falsies.) Clearly, Andelman knows her audience because before she knew it, the Eyeko mascara was a best-seller in the boutique. A collaboration was the natural next step.
So here’s what makes the Eyeko x Colette Bespoke Mascara different from the original, starting from the inside and working out. The unique curved brush and squeezable packaging have stayed exactly the same. The brush allows for an instant curly lift that coats every single hair with just a few strokes, and the flexible tube means that when you’re starting to run low, you don’t need to scrape the wand along the sides of the bullet like your typical mascara. Instead, just squeeze and roll like a tube of toothpaste. Inside the tube, the Eyeko x Colette Bespoke Mascara formula is a little different than Eyeko mascaras we’ve seen before. Two newcomer botanical ingredients—arginine and biotinoyl tripeptide—are the real stars. The first is an amino acid that encourages blood flow to the base of the lash follicles to boost healthy growth and the second is a conditioning and reparative peptide. (The formula is also made in Korea—an endorsement on its own.)
Now for the superficial (and fun) part. The Eyeko x Colette Bespoke Mascara has an icy blue reflective cap and comes nestled in a fancy mirrored gift box. (So if you were thinking of gifting it to your best chers amis, you don’t really have to worry about wrapping. It’s that pretty.) You will, however, have to wait until Monday, December 5, to get the limited-edition Eyeko x Colette Bespoke Mascara. It will be available for 29 euros (or $30.74 with the current exchange rate) on colette.fr—they do ship to the U.S.—and at the Colette store. Maybe ask the Hadid sisters to bring one back for you after they march in the Victoria’s Secret Show. Just a thought.
