The 2025 with a gala has achieved a historical milestone, raising a record of USD 31 million for the Institute of Costume of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is the first time that the gala exceeded the USD 30 million threshold, eclipsing the total of USD 26 million last year.
The event celebrated the opening of the spring exhibition of the costume institute, Superfine: Sastring Black Style, which explores more than three centuries of black fashion and dandyism. The exhibition, inspired by the book by Monica L. Miller Slaves to Fashion, deepens the importance of black male clothes and its impact on cultural identity.
This year’s gala was co -presided by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, at $ Ap Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as an honorary president. The clothing code, adapted for you, encouraged the guests to adopt the subject through custom costumes and sets inspired by male clothes.
The notable attendees included Gigi Hadid, who caught attention in a gold dress of Gold Miu inspired by the 1940s, and a $ Ap Rocky, which appeared in the headlines when announcing Rihanna’s third pregnancy during the event.
The funds raised will support the exhibitions, publications, acquisitions and capital improvements of the costume institute, ensuring the continuous celebration and preservation of the history of fashion.
Superfine: Sasta the adaptation of the black style open to the public on May 10 and will run until October 26, 2025, on with Fifth Avenue. The exhibition presents contributions from contemporary designers and historical figures of honor such as André Leon Talley and Virgil Ulh, according to Vogue.
