Al-Duhail Sports Club has officially parted ways with French coach Christophe Galtier following the conclusion of his contract. Appointed in October 2023 as a replacement for Hernán Crespo, Galtier’s tenure saw the team finish second in the Qatar Stars League, narrowly trailing champions Al-Sadd by two points. Additionally, Al-Duhail reached the Qatar Cup final, where they were defeated by Al-Sadd in a penalty shootout, and experienced an early exit from the Emir Cup.
In a statement released on social media platform X, the club expressed gratitude to Galtier and his coaching staff for their contributions and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Prior to his stint with Al-Duhail, the 58-year-old Galtier managed several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, OGC Nice, Lille, and Saint-Étienne. His departure from Al-Duhail marks the end of a brief but eventful chapter in his managerial career.
Reports suggest that Djamel Belmadi, a former coach of both the Qatar national team and Al-Duhail (previously known as Lekhwiya SC), is a leading candidate to succeed Galtier.
