Europe has a ton of landmarks that show off what people can do, how cool its culture is, and some amazing nature. If you’re traveling, some spots are more than just places to visit—they’re like timeless treasures that really show what Europe is all about. Here are five of the best ones you should check out.
Europe is a fantastic place to visit. It has a mix of cultures, a lot of history, and lovely views. You can see old buildings next to new ones, and the nature is gorgeous. With over 50 countries, you’re guaranteed to find something that you like. Imagine relaxing on beaches in the Mediterranean or seeing the fjords in Norway. Plus, Europe has over 450 UNESCO World Heritage sites, which is more than any other place.

1. Eiffel Tower – Paris, France
The Eiffel Tower, which was built in 1889, remains a very well-known place. At first, people didn’t care for it much, but now, people appreciate it for its neat style and romantic feel. It’s really tall, around 330 meters, and from the top you get a great view of Paris, especially at night when the lights are on.

2. The Colosseum – Rome, Italy
The Colosseum is a really famous place in Rome. Emperor Vespasian started building this big amphitheater almost 2,000 years ago, and his son Titus finished it around 80 AD. It’s super big, and could hold about 50,000 to 80,000 people! They had all sorts of events there, like gladiator fights, fake sea battles, animal hunts, and plays. These events were more than just entertainment; they were a way for Rome to show off how rich and strong they were, and how their society worked.

Today, after earthquakes and people taking stones from it, the Colosseum is mostly ruins. But it’s still super liked and respected. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

3. Santorini – Greece
Santorini in Greece is a really pretty place. If you want a romantic vacation, it’s perfect. Just think about it: white buildings, blue-roofed churches, and awesome sunsets over the Aegean Sea. A really long time ago, around 1600 BC, a huge volcano erupted. The explosion gave the island its cool crescent shape and tall cliffs. That’s what makes Santorini special.

4. Stonehenge – England
Stonehenge, located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, is this really old, mysterious site that everyone’s familiar with. It’s been around for more than 4,000 years, and it’s basically a circle of huge standing stones. Some of these stones are seriously heavy, like 25 tons, and they were brought all the way from Wales. It’s pretty mind-blowing when you think about the simple tools they had back then.

People have been guessing what Stonehenge was for ages. Many think it was a place for rituals, ceremonies, and spiritual practices. Others guess it was like a calendar to track the sun and seasons. These days, many people still visit at the start of summer to watch the sunrise over the Heel Stone, keeping an old tradition alive.

5. The Swiss Alps – Switzerland
The Swiss Alps are one of Europe’s best natural spots. People often call them the crown jewel of Europe. They go across Switzerland and have snowy peaks, clear lakes, green fields, and cute little towns. You can find both exciting stuff to do and quiet places to relax there.
