By ignoring the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), does the company of Mark Zuckerberg Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) deprived the French media or advertising income that should have been theirs? That is the basis of a lawsuit filed on Wednesday, April 22 by 200 French media in the Court of Economic Activities of Paris, accusing the US company of “illegal practices.”

The media organizations, including private stations TF1 and RMC-BFM, the public issuers of France, Télévisions and Radio France, the press groups Le Figaro and Les Echos-Le Parisien, and the regional newspapers claim that the target exploited the period in which they were implementing the consent of the users for the collection of data for the directed advertising.

According to his lawyers, Didier Théophile and Christine Schiffner, of the signature of Paris, Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier, and the American firm Scott+Scott, respectively, the media that demand the US firm accuse him of “advertising collection or the usodines of the masses”. The lawyers wrote in a statement.
