The French police were hunting on Saturday a man arrested for killing a Muslim worshiper inside a mosque in the south of the country while filming the murder on a mobile phone and shouted insults in Islam.
The worshiper was stabbed until death on Friday morning in the town of the Grand-Combe in the Gard region, in southern France. His murderer was still generally on Saturday, said Regional Prosecutor Abdelkrim Grini to the AFP.
The reason for the murder was not clear, but the images of the security camera showed the sustained murderer insulting “Allah”, the Arab term for God, a source close to the investigation to the AFP.
The alleged author sent the video he had filmed with his phone, showing the victim twisting in agony, another person, who shared him on a social media platform before eliminating it.
According to another source, which should not be appointed either, the alleged author, although not apprehended, has been identified as a French citizen or Bosnian origin.
“The individual is being active sought. This is an issue that is being very seriously tasks,” said prosecutor Grini.
“All possibilities were considered, including that of an act as an Islamophobic dimension,” he said, confirming that the Office of French anti -terrorist prosecutors was considering whether to assume the case.
The victim and the attacker were inside the mosque at the time of the incident.
After praying initial next to the man, the attacker stabbed the victim up to 50 times before turning the scene.

The victim’s body was only discovered later in the morning when other worships reached the mosque for Friday’s prayers.

According to several people, AFP spoke to the scene on Friday, the victim was a young man who arrived from Mali a few years ago and was “well known” in the town, where he was much appreciated.
