According to several documents reviewed by I mondeThe actions aimed at several French penitentiary facilities, residences of the staff and youth judicial protection buildings revealed methods varied the motivations of their perpetrators. The attacks were prepared, coordinated and, sometimes, preceded by recognition, but are still difficult to attribute to a single group of perpetrators. Since April 13, 30 vehicles have been destroyed or damaged in approximately 10 incidents.

The first incidents date back to the night of April 13, around 11 pm, when seven vehicles were burned in the parking area of Ecole National D’Ancation Pénitentiaire (National School of Penitentiary Administration) in the southwest city of Agen. A witness filmed the scene and the researchers managed to identify a suspicious vehicle. Its owner was arrested in the early hours of the morning, but it was quickly ruled out as suspicious. Later, a video on Telegram was published: two people with hood poured gasoline in the vehicles and then set on fire. The Office of the National Prosecutor against Terrorism has tasks about investigation.
