
At least for now, Nicolas Sarkozy has escaped a humiliation. The former president (2007-2012) was expected, definitely sentenced by the French criminal courts, revoked his legion of honor. However, his current successor, Emmanuel Macron, who as a great teacher of the order has the last word, has decided “not to make any decision of this type” at this stage.
Sarkozy, who owns the rank of Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, was on December 18, 2024, delivered a three -year prison sentence, including two years suspended and the remuneration at home with an electronic and infiltrated background. Honors are common removed from those who have discredited the legs. “Any person sentenced for a crime or a final prison sentence of at least one year is excluded,” says the Code of Honor.
