Erik Haines of GuidePoint Qsight breaks down drivers behind the 2024s $ 17.5 billion in non -surgical aesthetic expenses and what he points to the future of the industry.

As the demand for aesthetic treatments continues to evolve, the new data of GuidePoint Qsight reveals key trends that shape the future of non -surgical care. In 2024, American spending on non -surgical aesthetic procedures reached $ 17.5 billion, a modest increase that reflects deeper changes in patient preferences, the adoption of technology and practice strategy. In this interview, Practice of Plastic Surgery Talk to Erik Haines, managing director of Guidepoint Qsight, to unpack the data and explore what plastic surgeons need to know where the market is directed.

Practice of Plastic Surgery: Your latest data shows that non -surgical aesthetic expenditure reached $ 17.5 billion in 2024. What are the main drivers behind this growth and how sustainable this trend do you think?

Erik Haines: The growth of $ 17.5 billion in non -surgical aesthetics was largely driven by the growing popularity of non -invasive treatments such as neurotoxins and skin rejuvenation. In addition, the increase in the influence of social networks, patient awareness and advances in technology have maintained demand. This trend is expected to persist, but future growth can depend on innovation and affordability.

PSP: Neurotoxins continue to dominate the market, representing almost a third of the total expenditure of patients. What indicates this signal about patient preferences and the frequency of treatment?

Haines: Neurotoxins that represent almost a third of spending underlines the patient’s preference for rapid, predictable and less invasive treatments. This indicates a change to maintenance -oriented procedures with high repeated treatment rates.

PSP: Observe an increase in regenerative procedures, including bio -stimulating injectables and exosomal therapies. How are these innovations remodeling the treatment panorama and what should plastic surgeons be observing?

Haines: Bio -stimulating injectables and exosomal therapies are gaining traction as patients are looking for more durable and natural appearance results. Plastic surgeons must monitor advances in these areas, since they can complement more and more or replace traditional fillings and neurotoxins.

PSP: GLP-1 medications have clearly affected the market, with aesthetic expenditure on treatments that grow ten times since 2021. How do these medications influence the demand for related cosmetic procedures?

Haines: GLP-1 treatments have led to rapid weight loss, which has been a greater demand for corrective procedures, such as dermal fillings to address volume loss, commonly called “Ozempic face”. In addition, practices are exploring well -being services such as hormonal replacement therapy to maintain patient retention and address general vitality as patients experience significant physical changes.

PSP: While the spending of energy -based devices decreased, skin rejuvenation and resurgence almost doubled since 2019. What is promoting this divergence and how should the practices interpret this change?

Haines: While EBD spending decreased, the increase in rejuvenation and skin resurgence can be attributed to less invasive and profitable options that offer visible results with a shorter inactivity time. Practices should evaluate whether the integration of advanced resurgence techniques could attract patients with conscious costs.

PSP: The expenditure of dermal filling fell by 5%, with landfills of hyaluronic acid seeing the most notable decrease. Do you see this as a short -term correction or part of a broader change in patient behavior or clinical practice?

Haines: The 5% decrease in dermal filling spending, partially filled with hyaluronic acid (HA), can indicate market saturation and a change towards bio -stimulating products. However, the demand remains strong among patients in gene generation, especially for trend treatments such as liquid rhinoplasty and increased lips or chin. Monitoring of patient retention and the impact of the Dut and Durable fillings will clarify whether this fall is temporary or part of a broader market change. PSP
