The Paris Olympic village of 2024 enters its next phase as construction teams begin to convert athletes of athletes into permanent residential homes. This urban development project, common multiple tensions in Sena-Saint-Denis, repeats a significant addition to the Paris housing inventory.
Housing Minister Valérie Létard visited the site earlier this week to review the development of 2,800 units. “These units were built after strict environmental standards, with attention to social diversity and universal accessibility,” the minister said during his visit. The Development Authority confirms a September 2025 objective for the complete delivery of all units.
Current market data show variable availability in the handful of developers in charge of selling the properties. The Public Development Authority reports that 50% of its assigned units remain notable, while private developers report different figures. Vinci Imobilier has adjusted the initial price in response to market conditions, and ICADE reports 81 sales of its assignment of 144 units.
Technical conversion process
The transformation implies a complex series of scheduled modifications until the spring of 2025. Workers are currently eliminating temporary partitions and replacing the temporal floor with permanent facilities. The eliminated materials will be reused for future construction projects, aligning with sustainability commitments.
A significant part of the work is to convert the bathroom facilities of the athletes into residential kitchens and life spaces. The Director of the Public Development Authority points out that, although the technical aspects are not instead of complex, the scale and the timeline require an industrial approach for its completion. Development faces several practical challenges as residential use. Beyond the basic conversions, the equipment must address several repairs, including wall damage and windows replacements.
The project aims to create homes for 6,000 residents, marking a significant addition to the local housing inventory. The timeline remains adjusted, with multiple construction phases that execute the competitor to meet the deadline of September 2025.
