Before saying something, no, I’m not going to get married! Rather, my little sister is! I am very excited for your wedding at the end of this year, and is emerging as a beautiful celebration. I am also delighted to say that I am his lady of honor, and I have involved in many of the wedding plans. As such, I wanted to share some sustainable wedding ideas that we have on the legs!
A wedding can be a big, expensive and not so passionate event. There are many mobile parts: place, food, trips, guest list, cake, flowers, decorations, dresses, costumes, record, hair, makeup, honeymoon … the list continues! It can be quite feminine, and even more if you want to choose sustainable options. To help with that, I have compiled a list of sustainable wedding vendors and other ideas to help you make your wedding a beautiful and ecological event.
Sustainable wedding ideas
Paperless invitations
We live at a time when paperless invitations are now the things done. They are easier to design, they are cheaper than physical invitations and are also reduced in planetary impact. Sites such as Greenvelope and Posta Post offer designs prepared for wedding savings and wedding invitations.
Local place
To reduce the trip, choose a local place. My sister and her fiance are going to marry in a beautiful location halfway between the family house and the house of her family, what really feels like a fairy tale! It also helps the entire guest list to travel less and, therefore, reduce emissions. Some of us will spend the night on the site, but most people can return home, which also helps reduce cost and impact.
Lady dresses made to order
Lady dresses of honor can be difficult for organic, due to the combination of size and styles that everyone wants. For my sister’s wedding, it was important that we found dresses of the same color for all, but in a variety of sizes and styles. We also needed two modest dresses of honor for Muslim women in the bridal party.
After a search, we chose Azazie for our dresses as a lady of honor. Azazie makes all her dresses to order, and sacrifices a wide variety of styles and sizes that we join all the bridesmaids, while still the same color and fabric. They also sacrifice a variety of beautiful formal dresses* that can be resumed for special occasions.
If you are happy to have a mixture of honor lady dresses, I would wear a fashion rental site. You can save £ Ivil by renting a dress instead of buying, and it is also a lot of light in the environment. I attended a wedding last summer where honor ladies were a different color, with some of them renting their dresses!
Sustainable wedding dress
Now in the wedding dress. This is a great! My sister was amazing Chosey on her dress, and rightly! Finally, he chose a dress of a local independent wedding boutique. His dress is out of the route, so it will be the same dress he tested in the store, and will also have all his alterations performed by a local seamstress. Choosing an independent local store helps support the local economy and also supports local clothing manufacturers.
For more sustainable options, you can consider second -hand or vintage wedding dresses. The worshiped closet* a variety of incredible vintage dresses of the 20s, 30 and 40s, while Oxfam Bridal* offers excess and pre-loved wedding dresses. My sister also wore Vinned to find a dance dress for the reception of her wedding!
If you are looking for something spoken, there are some sustainable fashion designers who sacrifice nuptial services, including Phoebe English and Wed.
And for something intermediate, see the nuptial collections in Reformation and Stella McCartney.
Handmade nuptial accessories
A wedding dress is a full niece without its accessories! For handmade veils, with customizable options, I am ready to see Cyruson. This is a new digital boutique for luxury hand -made accessories. You can also find handmade hair pins, Alice bands and more.
Sustainable wedding rings
Next, let’s talk about wedding rings. In my sustainable jewelry guide, I recommend some different certifications for sustainable fine jewels. This may not know this, but most jewels are made of recycled materials, since precious metals are too valuable to throw. Recycled metals must be minimal and always verify if there is contrast To guarantee legitimacy.
For diamond rings, choose laboratory diamonds made with renewable energy. This last part is important, since a lot of energy is needed to make a diamond. My sister’s commitment ring presents a beautiful oval laboratory diamond.
Fairtrade flowers
Floral arrangements are a key feature of any wedding, but before starting with its perfect bouquet, I recommend looking for florists who work with the producers of Fairtrade or the United Kingdom. It is not very easy to find ethical flowers, but the certified flowers of fairtrade, or those that grow local and seasonal, are my best recommendations. Arena Flowers has a beautiful selection of white flowers* and fairtrade roses.
No gifts
Finally, I will not have gifts if you can. In almost all the gift guides I write, I highlight the wasteful ones that tend to be the gifts. This also applies to wedding favors. If you want to recite truly significant gifts, you will treasure, create a record in Buymence* or John Lewis. Both organizations are executed ethically and sacrifice the proven elements of high value.
