Founded in 2005 as an environmental newspaper based in Ohio, Ecowatch is a digital platform dedicated to publishing quality, content based on science in environmental problems, causes and solutions.

In a “deep change”, a new analysis of the group of non -profit experts influencemap has found that the European Union companies increasingly support climatic action, they said change of change challenges that the narrative of the proset companies.

The report – European industry and EU 2024–29 climate policy – He discovered that there was a change in corporate attitudes with respect to climatic policy between the EU green agreement that were presented at the beginning of the legislative cycle in 2019 and the beginning of the elections of the European Parliament last year, a influence state statement.

“Recent surveys show that business leaders overwhelmingly support a rapid transition to renewable energy. Now, this influencemap research reveals that companies are acting in that strategic direction and treating climate action as material for their business. This is not the concern of a minor security.

The findings challenge the narratives that certain associations of the industry have promoted since 2024, which portrays industrial competitiveness in Europe as in conflict with the ambitious climate policy of the EU.

The Lobbymap platform tracked 200 of the largest companies in Europe and 80 industry associations. An analysis of the results revealed that the defense of politics or 23 percent of the companies are fully aligned with the roads to limit the global heating to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to only three percent in 2019.

The proportion of companies that demonstrate a defense that is totally or partially aligned with the roads to 1.5 degrees Celsius also increased from 27 to 52 percent this period of time.

Meanwhile, the proportion of companies with climatic policies that are not aligned to limit heating to 1.5 degrees Celsius have fallen significantly from 34 to 13 percent.

“Those that are organized vocally to oppose the energy transition that achieves the huge importance in the entire public debate,” said Venetia Roxburgh, an influence analyst, as The Guardian reported. “However, this research shows that there is a bigger and silent majority that supports the decarbonization and impulse of progress through climatic policy.”

The researchers analyzed the channels of the companies that are dedicated to the climatic policy ranging from EU consultation documents to corporate disseminations and social networks publications. More weight was given to formal consultations on private policies, statements of managers and recent evidence.

It was discovered that industry associations were staying behind individual companies, with their participation in climatic policies that are aligned or partially aligned with a path of 1.5 degrees Celsius that rose from the year more than year more than year until the year 12 this year.

“Industry associations in the EU seem to be fighting a lost battle against the tide of positive corporate action on climatic policies,” Roxburgh said. “[They] You need to urgently reassess your priorities to continue acting as true representatives of most of your membership. “

A recent survey of business leaders discovered that almost all executives, 97 percent, support a transition from fossil fuels to an electricity system based on renewables.

“The case is clear: the reduction of emissions sacrifices a route towards operational efficiencies, greater resilience and reduced risk. Companions must take proactive measures to guarantee the support of lobbying and membership of the association, not under mine.
